In addition to our in-house team of dietitians, we’ve brought together some of the best and brightest experts to form the CLIF Nutrition Advisory Council. Together this nutrition team supports our commitment to providing sustainable, nutritious food to athletes and active people alike.

Kate Geagan, MS, RD

Kate Geagan is an award-winning registered dietitian who has helped millions of eaters fall in love with foods that are better for people and planet. She is the author of Go Green Get Lean: Trim Your Waistline with the Ultimate Low-Carbon Footprint Diet (Rodale), creator of A Greener You column with Clean Eating Magazine, and co-founder of Food + Planet, a global platform whose mission is to empower 1 million health professionals with sustainability by 2025. Kate is a global thought leader who is advancing conversations with enduring impact at the intersection of food, health and sustainability.

Mike Hamm, PHD

Mike Hamm is the C. S. Mott Professor of Sustainable Agriculture and Senior Fellow and founding Director of the Center for Regional Food Systems (CRFS) at Michigan State University (MSU). Prior to his move to MSU, he spent 19 years on the Rutgers University faculty in Nutritional Sciences where he co-founded the New Jersey Urban Ecology Program and the Rutgers Student Organic Farm. He served as a consultant on sustainability for the 2015 U.S. Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee report. Dr. Hamm’s scientific contributions have contributed to the broader understanding of sustainable and regionalized food systems.

Stephanie Howe, PHD

Stephanie Howe has a passion for movement, science, and nourishment that has catapulted her to the top of the ultra-running world. A former collegiate Nordic skier and cross-country runner, Dr. Howe won her first ever attempt at the famed Western States 100. She has earned a doctorate in Nutrition and Exercise Science at Oregon State University, and competes as a Team CLIF athlete, holding several course records and podium finishes at some of the world’s most famous ultras.

Bob Murray, PHD, FACSM

Bob Murray is the managing principal of Sports Science Insights (SSI), LLC, a consulting group with expertise in exercise science and sports nutrition. Prior to starting SSI, Dr. Murray was the co-founder and director of the Gatorade Sports Science Institute from 1985 to 2008. Dr. Murray’s scientific contributions have contributed to the broader understanding of how athletes can best use hydration and nutrition to improve sports performance.
